
John is the Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Tennessee Haslam College of Business Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation. He is a mentor and EIR in the Tennessee Energy Mentor Network , a member of ORNL’s Innovation Crossroads Leadership Council , and an angel investor with Queen City Angels in Cincinnati. From 1988 to 2013, John was the Founder, Chairman, and President of BHE Environmental which was #98 on the Inc. 500 list in 1993, and its affiliate, BHE Properties. In his engineering company, John was an active participant in Fundamentals and Siting of Wind Energy and Transmission, American Wind Energy Association; Wind Forecasting Workshop, American Wind Energy Association; U.S. Department of Energy, Project Planning – Determining the Best Renewable Energy Project Training Session, and Federal Energy Management Program Procuring Solar Energy for Federal Facilities: Practical Guide Training Session; certified as a wind project planner in WindPro, and was a practicing (now retired) professional engineer in several
